How Do I Register for a Course?

If you want to take a MedRisk® OnLine Course, you will need to enroll for the course.

Once you know what course(s) you'd like to take, click on the register link, which you will find on most pages, or the register link on the Course Catalog page. Check the course(s) of your choice, then the method of payment. If you chose to pay via credit card, you will have immediate access to your course.

How Do I Pay for My Course?

After the enrollment form is completed, you may phone, fax, or email your credit card information. Look below for phone, fax, and address information. If you register on-line with our secure server, you may immediately access your course upon approval of your card information. Medical Risk Management accepts the following forms of payment:

Visa  Master Card
Personal check Business check

Is My Credit Card Information Secure?

Yes, your credit card information is secure. Medical Risk Management's secure server will insure your registration information is safe. You may also click the link to our Privacy Statement for more information.

This question arises from users’ concerns about credit card processing over the Internet.  On the MedRisk site, users do not see the “https” in the URL and the lock on the bottom of the page, and may mistakenly assume that their transactions are not secure.  Their credit card transactions are in fact secure.  When the order form is filled out, it actually exists only on the user’s computer.  Processing doesn’t start until the user hits the “Submit” button. At that point the data on the order form is encrypted on the user’s machine before the data is sent over the internet via a secure “https” URL embedded in the credit card processing code.  The credit information is not stored in the system and MedRisk does not maintain a record of users’ credit card information.

If you forget your password, just click the link in the log-in box. You may also change your password at any time by clicking the button to change your password after you have logged in. You may use the same password each time you register for a course.

Can I Switch from the Online Version to the Hardcopy?

All registrations are final after fourteen days. After that time, we will be unable to switch you over to hard copy or refund your registration fee.

How Do I Navigate My Course?

To navigate, choose the link you wish and click from the menus at the top, bottom, or side of the page. Modules may be accessed from the top menu. A drop-down list of modules will appear when you click that menu item. After you have submitted your answers for a module, you will automatically be taken to the next module. You may only access the modules you have completed, or appendices. There are links to a dictionary at the top of the page. You will also find clickable links for definitions in the content.

The font size of each page may be adjusted by using the font feature of your browser.

Questions regarding your course or technical problems may be sent via e-mail by using the "Course Questions" and "Technical Problems" links found on each menu. You must have your e-mail application open to do this. We will reply as soon as possible to your question or problem.

Why Was My Credit Card Rejected?

Your credit card may be rejected for a variety of reasons. One of the most common problems occurs when you do not user your billing address during registration. The address you enter must match the bill address of your credit card. Also, do not use spaces or punctuation marks when entering your credit card number.

Occasionally, there may be heavy traffic on the Internet or a routing problem between your computer and the credit card verification system.

Sometimes, you may have to try another credit card. There may be issues between you and the verification center which MedRisk® cannot control.

In case of rejection by the verification center, you may also contact MedRisk®, via phone, during regular business hours, or email MedRisk®. We can manually enter your card information for you. You may also phone MedRisk® if you do not wish to use a credit card over the Internet.

Does My Course Carry Category 1 CME Credit?

Yes, your course does have Category 1 credit

Medical Risk Management, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing education for physicians.

Medical Risk Management designates these continuing medical educational activities for the designated number of credits in Category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

These CME activities have been planned and developed in accordance with the ACCME Essentials and Standards for Enduring Materials.

You may also use the link to the Accreditation page for more information.

I am not a physician. Will I receive CE credit for completing my course?

Certain Medrisk courses carry nursing CE credit through an arrangement with our co-provider, CorExcel. Dental courses carry AGD credit through our co-provider, The Medical Protective Company.

Members of other professions (osteopaths, chiropractors, optometrists, etc.) will not earn CE credit specific to their professions, but will receive a certificate stating that they satisfactorily completed a course designated for category 1 AMA PRA credit. Some professional associations will accept such certificates and enable members to apply for commensurate credit within the association

How Do I Print My Course?

Courses may be printed for personal reference, but you will need to do so before submitting your course test.

Please note: Once you submit your test answers you will not be able to access the program.

If you would like to print the course or any part of the course for your records you must do so before submitting your test.

If you would like to purchase a PDF file of the entire course for future reference this is available for a fee of $15 payable by MasterCard or Visa.

Please contact us at or 800-633-7475 for assistance in this matter.

If Windows is your operating system, place your cursor on the content, right click, and choose "Print" from the menu. The courses are in frames, so you must have the cursor over what you intent to print. If the top, bottom, or side menus print, that is where your cursor was placed. Move it to the content, then follow the above instructions

If you are a MAC user, and have a problem printing the course content, you might try some of the following suggestions:

The control key held down and the mouse clicked changes the frame to be printed.

How do I print a Web page that uses frames? Answer: Some Web pages are designed using frames (subsections of the window that display different information). In order to print the information in a particular frame, click in that frame and choose "Print" from the "File" menu.

Click in the frame, then go to the "File" menu and see if there is an option to "Print Frame". If so, try that. It could be that the print button doesn't properly recognize the correct frame.

There is a combo you can click. Try option-mouse click, or Control, or the little "Apple" button on the keyboard. Hold down one of those and, click the mouse at the same time. That is the same as doing a right click with the mouse.

Try clicking on the frame with the test, then hitting the "Print" button. If that does not work, try the above.

How Do I Complete My Course?

Available programs can be found on the Course Catalog page, or on the CME Home page. Once a CME course selection is made, the user completes a simple enrollment form and submits it electronically to MedRisk®. Upon satisfactory completion of the registration process, you will be able to access your course. Registering and submitting payment by credit card will give you immediate access to your course. If you choose to pay by fax, email, or phone, you will receive further information from MedRisk® by email or phone. You will NOT be able to access your CME course until you receive this information.

Each module has a test at the end. After you have submitted your responses to those questions, you will automatically be taken to the next module. You will only be able to access those modules you have completed. Your answers are saved in a database on the MedRisk® server. You may change your answers at any time for the modules you have completed. At the end of the course, you will be directed to a page for final submission of your test responses. Your test is immediately scored. If you have obtained a score of 80%, you will find a printable certificate of completion. You may return at any time, log in, and will find a button that will allow you to print your certificate again. If you do not receive a passing score, you will be given a list of questions that were answered incorrectly. Return to the module(s) where there is an incorrect response and change your selection. You will be told what the missed question was and what your incorrect answer was.

How Do I Submit My Test for CME Credit?

All courses include a test at the end of each module. Indicate your choice of answers for each question using the buttons. Only one answer per question can be selected. Once a module's questions are answered, a user can advance to the next module.

Once all the modules have been completed, the user can review and then electronically submit all the answers to MedRisk® by using the "Submit" button at the end of the evaluation questions. Please do not hit the "enter" key or "submit" button until you are certain you have completed your test.

If you achieve a passing score, a certificate of completion will be available to print online, or users may request that the certificate be emailed to the address specified at registration. You must complete the questionnaire at the end of the post-test before credit can be awarded.

How Will My Test be Scored?

The questions included in this course are designed to assess your understanding of the course content. At the end of each module there will be a test section of questions that users are required to answer before moving on to the next module. The tests will not be graded until you submit all your answers at the end of the course, after being given an opportunity to review your answers. A level of accuracy meeting or exceeding 80 percent for the entire course will earn you up to designated number of credits in Category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Users failing to pass the course will get two additional attempts to take the course free of charge.

Your test form will be electronically scored and the results immediately posted in your browser window. If you have questions regarding your test, or wish clarification of a test item, please use the question form to email MedRisk®.

Some browsers will not retain your question responses when you return to the course content to check an answer.  This is due to certain versions of browsers or your individual browser settings.  You might consider making note of your responses until you determine if your browser will maintain your choices.

  What Is A Passing Score?

You must achieve a score of 80% to successfully complete your course. As explained above, you are able to return to the questions you missed, make another choice, and re-submit your responses.

How Will I Receive My Certificate of Completion?

If you achieve a passing score, a certificate of completion will be available to print online, or users may request that the certificate be emailed to the address specified during registration. You must complete the evaluation questionnaire at the end of the post-test before credit can be awarded.

  Will My Insurer be Notified?

If your insurer is one of our clients, your insurer will be notified of your successful course completion. A list of our client insurers is found in the drop-down insurer box on the registration page.
